    Overview

The primary goal of Nature Play QLD is to encourage and facilitate outdoor, nature-based play for children, fostering their physical, emotional, and cognitive development. The initiative aims to reconnect children with nature and highlight the benefits of outdoor activities.

Nature Play QLD is an approach where children engage in unstructured play in natural settings, such as parks, beaches, or bushland, using natural elements like logs, rocks, and water. This form of play, as highlighted by Associate Professor Janet Dyment, allows children to create their own experiences and fosters significant benefits. Evidence shows that integrating nature into daily life enhances happiness and health across all ages. By encouraging children to play freely in natural environments and supporting their exploration, we help them develop resilience, happiness, and engagement. Embracing nature play not only nurtures children but also promotes a harmonious relationship between humans and the natural world.
