    ACT Companion is designed as a comprehensive companion to the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach. If one is working with an ACT coach, clinician, or self-help book, this ultimate ACT app will help put into practice what has been learned, and create meaningful change in life. 

    ACT is a scientifically supported mindfulness-based behaviour therapy with over 1000 published peer-reviewed studies demonstrating its effectiveness for mental and physical health, relationships, performance, and behaviour change. ACT encourages mindfulness, acceptance of difficult thoughts and feelings, and commitment to actions aligned with personal values. 

    This interactive app is aimed at helping users apply ACT principles in their daily lives. The app aims to support users in overcoming psychological challenges, reducing stress, and enhancing overall well-being using evidence-based techniques from ACT. 

    An independent peer-reviewed study found that completing just one ACT Companion exercise per day can significantly reduce anxiety, depression and stress, improve mood, and increase mindfulness skills and psychological flexibility.

    Challenges

    • Customizing the Chart for multiple screen support, to manage the Screen Orientation.
    • Custom Odometer for health score.
    • Daily Account Backup in background mode at a specific time.

    Solution

    • We used a Charts library to show graphs, and did some customization to display according to our design.
    • Developing the custom odometer for the scores related to different exercises (after calculations), was not easy. We took the reference of different libraries to sort this out.
    • We implemented a background alarm service to upload the daily/weekly backup to the server from the app.
